Our Vision

Our Vision

Our churches wish to develop community connections through promoting lively activities and initiatives such as the joint Festival organised in the Summer of 2023 to celebrate the double Platinum Anniversary of St Andrew’s and the Platinum Anniversary of St Alban’s. We seek to provide inclusive all-age worship and are passionate about reaching out to our neighbours and supporting local organisations. Our congregations are very diverse and we encourage continuing growth! You are very welcome to join us at any time for worship or community events, and we delight to welcome newcomers from all backgrounds. To meet the needs of our diverse congregations and with the focus on inclusivity, both of our churches practice centre Anglican worship, but with a modern and progressive outlook. Each Church takes part in Christian Aid Week, and during the lockdowns of 2020 we continued to support charitable causes as part of our ongoing mission. Both churches are committed to awareness of the impact we have on the Earth's environment and endeavour to make meaningful changes in moving towards a net zero carbon strategy.

And, as always, our central concerns are worship, prayer, spiritual growth and service!

Our Churches

We are blessed with two lovely churches; our beautiful parish church of St Andrew's built in the late 19th century gothic style and our purpose-built daughter church of St Alban's, Coldharbour, which has faithfully served the community since it opened its doors in the early 1950s. Both churches are friendly and welcoming and take pains to ensure that newcomers and visitors feel valued and included.

St Andrew's

The Parish Church of St Andrew's is situated on Court Road (A208) between Mottingham village and Mottingham station. It was built in 1879/80, consecrated for worship in 1880, and extended in 1912. The church buildings include two halls and a small meeting room, which together with the church, are used for cultural and community events as well as meetings. The Parish Rectory is situated on separate grounds adjacent to the church. The Rectory is sometimes used for meetings and a few events are held in the garden.

St Alban's

Built in 1953, St Alban's, the 'daughter' church is located about a mile from St Andrew's on William Barefoot Drive in the heart of the Coldharbour estate. The small modern church has a large attached hall which can be opened up via a folding/sliding partition to allow easy access to and from the church.
